Channel 13 reported that Israel issued a NOTAM indicating Ben-Gurion Airport flights may remain restricted until at least April 16 amid ongoing attacks from Iran and Hezbollah.
Israel issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that flights at Ben-Gurion Airport are likely to be restricted until at least April 16, Channel 13 reported on Wednesday.
The decision to extend the restriction is based on an analysis of the current security situation, with Israel coming under missile and rocket fire from Iran and Hezbollah, including several sirens in central Israel near where Ben-Gurion Airport is located.
If the security situation changes, the restrictions at Ben-Gurion Airport may also be lifted before this date.
However, it cannot be ruled out that the security situation will remain unchanged, and the restrictions may be extended beyond April 16.
What is a NOTAM, and what does this message mean?
A NOTAM is an urgent notice issued to air personnel, including airlines, pilots, and traffic control, that parties may need to be aware of before the news media can spread the word.
This NOTAM means that it is likely that all foreign airlines that have not already cancelled their flights before April 16 are likely to do so, according to Channel 13's report.
